IM Properties hosts tour of Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal

IM Properties took 35 industrial property agents on a tour of the £25 million Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) at its Birch Coppice Business Park in Dordon, North Warwickshire.

The BIFT tour was led by its Terminal Operations Manager David Turner, who explained the workings of the terminal as well as the cost effectiveness and environmental benefits of using rail freight over haulage.

Attendees at the BIFT TourOperated by Roadways Container Logistics, BIFT is one of the Midlands’ busiest rail freight terminals. More than 100,000 containers will pass through the facility this year.

Following the BIFT visit, guests were taken on a tour around parts of the impressive 400 acre Birch Coppice Business Park, including the new £210 million Ocado customer fulfilment centre which is due to open early next year, creating more than 2,000 jobs. The day concluded with a barbecue.
