IM Properties completes letting to Euro Car Parts for Birch Coppice mega shed
Award-winning developer, IM Properties, has completed the pre-let of one of the largest distribution units in the West Midlands at its Birch Coppice Business Park near Tamworth.
The 778,000 sq ft distribution unit has been taken by automotive component supplier, Euro Car Parts (ECP) on a 20 year lease. Due for Practical Completion in January 2016, the unit will include 47,500 sq ft of offices alongside 4 level access doors and 64 dock doors.
Kevin Ashfield, Senior Development Director, IM Properties, said: “We are delighted to have secured this pre-let to Euro Car Parts. This letting is great news for the local area as it will increase the number of jobs provided by Euro Car Parts to over 1,350. We have worked closely with Euro Car Parts for a number of months to design a bespoke National Distribution Centre that is designed around their sophisticated internal automation system.”
The facility will stock over 150,000 different product lines and despatch over 200,000 items each night to the branch network. ECP currently occupy over 600,000 sq ft (including mezzanine floors) of warehousing on the same estate which will be retained and transformed into a specialist facility for collision, coatings and green parts.
Martin Gray, CEO of Euro Car Parts, commented: “Actions speaks louder than words and this unprecedented investment demonstrates our long-term commitment not just to the UK aftermarket but to our customers and our people. We are determined to continue maximising our logistics capability and launch pioneering, unique and truly added-value solutions for our customers. I would like to sincerely thank our customers, our supplier partners and all of our people for your continued loyalty and support. Together we continue to prove that we are indeed greater than the sum of our parts.
“Due to the scale of the unit that we were looking for, there were very few opportunities in the market that met our requirements. However, having worked with IM Properties and having an existing presence at Birch Coppice, we felt confident that they would be able to deliver exactly the right level of accommodation we needed.”
This has been an incredibly successful year for IM Properties to date across their portfolio of industrial sites, having secured lettings for over 1.35m sq ft of industrial and distribution space over the last 12 months.
Situated in Dordon at Junction 10 of the M42, the 400 acre Birch Coppice Business Park is the West Midlands’ largest rail-served development site with a growing reputation for attracting high-quality occupiers including Ocado, Volkswagen Group, Euro Car Parts, and Severn Trent.
